Volunteers: Inspiring Languages

Inspiring the Future provides a quick and easy way for schools and employers to connect. We plan to engage hundreds of volunteers who use languages in their jobs to go into schools to talk to pupils.

They include lawyers, civil servants, engineers and psychologists, using their languages in organisations. Languages could include:

French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, Urdu, and many more.

Volunteers may be invited to take part in different activities in schools, whether it’s a whole school assembly, a session as part of a cultural diversity celebration, to judge competitions or to talk to small groups of pupils – it’s up to you to say what you can help with when invited. For ideas and case studies, read the UK user friendly practical guide to Inspiring Languages.

How to get involved as a volunteer

When completing your Inspiring the Future volunteer profile, simply select the languages you can speak in the ‘Specialism’ section in ‘My Profile’, and you will be available to schools and colleges in your area as a language volunteer.
